Who we are –
We are glad that you’ve found the web site for the Hillwood Presbyterian Church of Nashville, TN, and we hope that you will come visit us in person soon. Hillwood Church is a loving, caring Christian community that is now celebrating its fifty-ninth year of “Serving God by Serving Others.” We are a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA) in the Presbytery of Middle Tennessee. Hillwood Presbyterian Church was organized on December 4, 1955, to serve the then developing Hillwood community. We now have about 100 members, so we are small enough for people to really get to know one another and get involved in the life and ministry of the church and large enough to make a difference.
Our Mission –
Our mission statement is “Serving God by Serving Others,” which we try to do in numerous ways. We have been involved in numerous Habitat for Humanity Builds. We support Monroe Harding and Martha O’Bryan, along with other local social service agencies. Through our benevolence giving, we support the programs and mission of the PC (USA), including, but not limited to, hunger ministry, disaster relief, the self-development of people, ministry to at-risk youth and young adults, peacemaking and world missions. Many individuals within the church are actively involved in volunteer service to the community, and one of our members, a doctor volunteers his skills in Kenya each year, doing orthopedic surgery. We also participate with the Living Waters for the World with a mission team which have gone to Honduras to install water systems for villages in need. In the past our youth have been involved in mission trips and projects. We are pleased to house the Hillwood Playcare, a NAEYC accredited program serving children from 6 weeks of age to Pre-Kindergarten, (hillwoodplaycare.org).
Each Sunday we gather at 10:30 A.M. for worship. Prior to Worship we have Christian Education Classes meeting at 9:30, followed by a time of fellowship and refreshment at 10:00. We have a Potluck Supper once or twice a month followed by a Bible Study or a program. There are a variety of other opportunities for education, fellowship, and service. Please call the Church Office at 615-352-6310 for more information.
