Church Staff

The Reverend Dr. Jule M. Nyhuis began as interim pastor February 21 , 2017 and was installed as pastor June 10, 2018.  Jule holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theology from Valparaiso University, a Masters of Divinity degree from Vanderbilt University Divinity School, and a Doctor of Ministry degree (in Gospel and Culture) from Columbia Theological Seminary of Decatur, GA.  Jule has over twenty years of experience in a variety of solo pastor and associate pastor positions (including 8 years in specialized ministry with Children & Their Families and 9 years in guiding congregations through ministry transitions).  Jule has a Certificate in Spiritual Direction from the Haden Institute, a Certificate in Jungian Dream Work from the Haden Institute, and is a board Certified Healing Touch Practitioner through Healing Beyond Borders.  She enjoys teaching, preaching, and journeying with others in the life of faith.  An avid reader and gardener; she finds herself rejuvenated through time alone in nature, walks with her toy poodle Rufus, and great conversations with close friends and family.  She is excited to be a part of the Hillwood church community!

Brian Warford began as Director of Music in June of 2014.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English/Music from Furman University and a Master of Divinity in Church Music from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.  Brian has served as Minister of Music in South Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee.  As a member of the Nashville Symphony Chorus, he organized the Nashville Chorus Sacred Ensemble.  He currently is the President of Brian’s Custom Theaters and Hi-Fi and Living Sounds Audio.
Dr. Michael Hooper began as Organist in January 2015.  Dr. Hooper earned his Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance from Pennsylvania State University, a Master of Music in Percussion Performance from Peabody Conservatory, a Master of Liberal Arts from John Hopkins University, and a PhD from MTSU.  Dr. Hooper has performed with many orchestras in the Washington, D.C. metro area, including the Washington Symphony Orchestra and the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra and has performed as a featured soloist with conductor Keith Lockhart.  He has taught music at St. Mary’s College of Maryland and the Park School of Baltimore.  Active in church music since 1987, he served as the Director of Music for churches in Virginia, Washington, D.C. and Maryland.
