We gather for worship on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. in the H.G. Hill Chapel. Our services are traditional, following the Presbyterian Book of Common Worship and the Directory for Worship. The hearing of God’s word in Scripture and preaching is central, and music also plays an important role. The Lord’s Supper (Holy Communion) is celebrated on the first Sunday of every month. Baptisms of infants and adults also occur during morning worship.
Children worship with their parents, and there is a Conversation with the Children early in the service. Following this time, children in kindergarten or younger may attend Children’s Church during the remainder of the service. Older children are encouraged to worship with their parents or with the children in the Children’s pew. A children’s bulletin and other activities are available in the narthex.
Music is an integral part of the worship life of Hillwood Presbyterian Church. We have three choirs that offer their gifts of music: the Bell Choir plays during worship and on special occasions, the Chancel Choir sings throughout the year; and the Children’s Choir sings on special occasions. Palm Sunday for the past several years has been celebrated with a New Orleans Dixieland Jazz Service.
