The evening of 27 March 2023
What words are there on a night like tonight? What prayers can we make when we are shattered?
Holy One, you know.
This intricate web that is life is fragile and tenacious. When one hurts, we all do, and we can hardly bear the sorrow of our city right now.
Keep close to us, Love. Hold us – hold our children, our parents, our teachers, our first responders, our civic leaders, and everyone touched deeply by the unthinkable of Monday morning. In due time, re-build our trust; for it feels like nothing but quicksand under our feet tonight. Tears are our lasting prayer.
Though we cannot fathom how; for each devastated family, give us hope that dawn shall rise. Through the Risen Christ we pray, Amen.
